Hinders

Are we really free or is this an illusion?

Hinders, art series by Gérard Rancinan

Culture for All - Artwork by israeli artist Idan Wizen

In contemporary society, we are constantly entangled in invisible chains — social networks, over-consumption, the weight of work, toxic attachments. Emancipation and self-fulfillment become not luxuries, but vital quests in the pursuit of happiness. Yet, the path towards liberation is strewn with obstacles, hesitations, and inner shadows.

The Hinders series explores these veils that blind us in our daily lives, preventing us from recognizing the very chains that bind us.

Through his photographs, Idan Wizen does not merely hold up a mirror to society — he seeks to open a door. His images invite us to confront our fears, to dissolve them through reflection and introspection, and to reclaim our freedom.

Subtle, dreamlike, and deeply human, his work resonates as an ode to free will, to the courage of choice, and to the infinite power we each carry to break our own chains.

In about twenty artworks, Idan Wizen talks about free will, individual decision and the ability that each one has to break his chains.
